Listed Companies Are Quietly Accumulating Hundreds of Thousands of ETH with a Total Value of Over $1 Billion, Making Ethereum a New Pillar in Corporate Treasury Strategy.
The wave of ethereum accumulation is spreading in the corporate community as listed companies begin to view the world's second-largest digital asset as an important part of their investment portfolio. This trend is driven by the profitability through ethereum's staking mechanism, creating a stable passive income source for businesses.
Bitmine leads the race with a massive 300,657 ETH announced on July 17, of which 60,000 ETH were purchased through options with a secured investment of $200 million in cash. The company's total ethereum holdings reached $1.12 billion as of July 20, making Bitmine one of the largest ethereum-holding corporations in the world.
Sharplink Gaming ranks second with 280,706 ETH in its portfolio and is planning to expand its holdings with newly raised capital. This strategy reflects a shift from traditional business models to integrating digital assets as an official financial tool.
Ethereum Staking Becomes a Corporate Financial Instrument
Bit Digital has demonstrated the effectiveness of combining ethereum holding and staking, owning 120,306 ETH as of July 20. The company not only purchased 19,683 ETH with a $67.3 million investment from institutional investors but also operates its own validator system to maximize profits from the staking mechanism.
This model is widely adopted by many other businesses. BTCS Inc. diversifies its strategy with 29,122 ETH allocated across various channels, including 4,160 ETH staking through Rocket Pool, 6,300 ETH through private nodes, and 14,280 ETH as collateral on the Aave platform. The 24% debt-to-asset ratio shows the company is skillfully balancing decentralized and traditional finance.
Ether Capital Corporation maintains a concentrated approach with 98% of its 46,274 ETH being staked, creating a stable cash flow from transaction validation rewards. This strategy helps companies not only benefit from ethereum price appreciation but also generate regular income from network operation activities.
Smaller companies are also joining this race. Gamesquare Holdings recently purchased 1,818.84 ETH at an average price of $2,749 after completing a $70 million capital raise. Vault Ventures PLC and Exodus Movement Inc. are similarly gradually building their ethereum portfolios with 711.93 ETH and 2,729 ETH respectively.
