All they had to do make it clear to Russia that it's unacceptable to use airspace near NATO. But they're too cowardly.

In 2022, Ukrainian civilians barricaded the road to the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (Europe's largest NPP) to defend it against Russian forces. They faced Russian tanks totally unarmed. NATO nations are afraid to shoot down UNMANNED Russian drones & missiles in Ukraine.
